Renaissance Art Tour
This tour is an extraordinary journey through the Art History, from the Roman age to the XVII century. During our visit we will learn about lives of famous artists, stories about their wonderful masterpieces walking on the steps of Medici family who made this incredible art collection. The Uffizi, one of the oldest museums in the world, houses the principal protagonists of the Italian renaissance and, with its chronological organization, provides visitors a unique overview of the art.
With our guides you will visit the highlights of Florence like the Piazza della Signoria (Signoria Square), the political city centre with the Medieval huge Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace), the magnificent Fontana del Nettuno (Neptune Fountain), the scary statue of Perseo (Perseus) under the Loggia della Signoria and the replica of David close to the main door of the Old Palace. In 1504 the original David was placed here and it became the symbol of Florence’s virtues and cultural life. In few steps we will reach Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), the oldest bridge of Florence: on the either sides of this bridge we can admire shining windows of goldsmiths and silversmiths and the incredible Vasari Corridor, private street made for the Medici Family in the 16th century. Then we will stop in front of Mercato del Porcellino (The Piggy market), the famous Florentine leather market. Under this beautiful porch, built in the 16th century, you can find the most famous good luck of Florence!!
Our exploration will continue in Piazza della Repubblica (Republic Square), the ancient Roman forum, then the Old Market and now the “salotto buono” of Florence. Then we will stop in the Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square). Here we will see the place for which David was originally commissioned, the workshops (now are rooms of the Museum of Opera del Duomo) in which it was carved by Michelangelo and we will admire the ancient Battistero (Baptistery), the Campanile di Giotto (Giotto’s Bell Tower) and the big Cupola (Brunelleschi Dome).
Then we will visit Uffizi (Uffizi Museum)!
Our tour starts from the second floor with an incredible view of the old frescoed corridors, flanked on the either sides by Classis statues of God, Godness and Roman Emperors.
In the first room, dedicated to the Medieval Art, you will admire the “Maestà” (Majesty) made by Giotto, a Florentine artist that took his first steps on the street of Renaissance art.
Then we will be captured by the Adorazione dei Magi (Adoration of the Magi) by Gentile da Fabriano, and by the paintings made by Piero della Francesca and Filippo Lippi.
Finally we will be in the heart of Uffizi Gallery, the two new rooms dedicated to Botticelli’s masterpieces: The Primavera (Springtime) and The Nascita di Venere (Birth of Venus).
After a little stop to admire from Uffizi’s windows the Arno River, Piazzale Michelangelo (Michelangelo Terrace), the panoramic terrace of Florence, Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) and Corridoio Vasariano (Vasari Corridor), we will go into the room of Michelangelo. Here we have the only wooden panel painting made by the Florentine master, the Tondo Doni.
In few steps we will reach the beautiful terrace of Uffizi Museum and the we will go downstairs to meet Raffaello, with his sweet Madonna col cardellino (Madonna of the Goldfinch) , Leonardo da Vinci, with his Battesimo di Cristo (Baptism of Christ) and the Annunciazione (Annunciation), and then Tiziano (Titian), with his seductive Venere di Urbino (Venus of Urbino).
