With our funny tour sharing, we will stroll through the city centre of Florence to admire the highlights of our beautiful city!!! Our guides will let you discover the most famous and important monuments of Florence in just 2 hours!
Our exploration starts from Piazza Santa Croce (Santa Croce Square) to admire the Franciscan church of Santa Croce where many famous Italians are buried, like Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei, Niccolò Machiavelli and many others. Then we’ll proceed to Piazza della Signoria (Signoria Square), the political city centre of Florence and one of the most suggestive museum at open air. In this beautiful square you can find some of the most famous attractions in Florence, like Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace), the Loggia dei Lanzi (Lanzi Porch) and the Fontana del Nettuno (Neptune Fountain). Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace), Medieval government palace, residence of the Medici Family and now the city hall of Florence: his high tower is the symbol of power of Florence over centuries. Under the Loggia dei Lanzi (Lanzi Porch) we have a collection of monumental sculptures like the bronze statue of Perseo (Perseus) made by Benvenuto Cellini or the Ratto delle Sabine (Rape of the Sabine) by Giambologna. The museum at open air housed in this square is created by the Ammannati’s Fontana del Nettuno (Neptune Fountain), the Bandinelli’s Ercole and Caco (Hercules and Caco) and the replica of Michelangelo’s David! In few steps we will be in the courtyard of Uffizi (Uffizi Museum) the most famous museum of Renaissance Art: here are housed paintings made by Michelangelo, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci. We will reach Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), the oldest bridge of Florence: on the either sides of this bridge we can admire shining windows of goldsmiths and silversmiths and the incredible Vasari Corridor, private street made for the Medici Family in the 16th century. Then we will stop in front of Mercato del Porcellino (The Piggy market), the famous Florentine leather market. Under this beautiful porch, built in the 16th century, you can find the most famous good luck of Florence!!
Our exploration will continue to Piazza della Repubblica (Republic Square), the ancient Roman forum, then the Old Market and now the “salotto buono” of Florence.
The last stop of our tour will be Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square). Here you can admire Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, surmounted by the big Cupola (Brunelleschi’s Dome), and its marble statues and decorations. Then the Campanile di Giotto (Giotto’s Bell Tower) with its 414 steps to reach the top and the Romanesque Battistero (Baptistery), embellished by the famous Porta del Paradiso (Gate of Haven).
